AROMATICA has set greenhouse gas reduction targets and is driving them forward step by step. As a member of the SBTi*, we have established science-based goals aligned with the 1.5°C scenario, aiming to cut Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to 2023.

Leading Korea’s Beauty Industry in Science-Based Climate Action
*SBTi(Science Based Targets initiative)
A global coalition established in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. It sets international standards for companies to establish greenhouse gas reduction targets based on scientifically validated criteria and undergo external verification. Global leaders such as Unilever, Microsoft, and Patagonia have joined, and AROMATICA is the first Korean beauty brand to receive its approval.
Cutting Energy and Resource Use in Production
At our production facility, we have installed 315 solar panels (455W each) on unused rooftop space, generating renewable energy that supplies an average of 26% of our monthly electricity needs. This initiative has reduced annual greenhouse gas emissions by about 88 tCO₂eq. We also saved 1,178 tons of water in 2024 through advanced water treatment technology, conserving this precious shared resource. By improving energy efficiency across operations, we reduced electricity use by 20,439 kWh in 2024 alone.
Carbon Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Through Soil Recovery
Since 2025, AROMATICA has been leading Project Soil to reduce carbon emissions and build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. Soil is not only the foundation of our product ingredients but also a vital carbon sink in responding to the climate crisis.
Together with our employees and customers, we remove invasive species, sow seed bombs of native plants, and restore soil and surrounding ecosystems. These activities are documented through scientific analysis and long-term monitoring. In addition, we are researching ways to extract active ingredients from invasive species and apply them to product development.

AROMATICA is developing this initiative into a long-term environmental restoration project, continuously contributing to carbon reduction and ecosystem recovery.
In households, food is the number one source of plastic waste, followed by cosmetics. As part of an industry that cannot be free from the plastic problem, AROMATICA designs packaging for reuse and recycling, expands the use of recycled materials, and fosters a culture of sustainable use that reduces single-use consumption.
In addition, to further increase the use of recycled materials, we have actively applied them to primary packaging since 2021. In 2024, 55% of our total plastic use — about 111 tons out of 201 tons — came from recycled sources. That same year, AROMATICA became the first brand in Korea’s beauty industry to be certified under the Ministry of Environment’s recycled plastic usage labeling program.
AROMATICA became the first in Korea to apply 100% recycled clear PET across its entire line of PET containers. To improve recyclability, we replaced multi-material pumps with single-material caps and added water-removable labels for easy separation. As a result, our packaging received an “Excellent” rating in the Ministry of Environment’s recyclability assessment.

Leading the Refill Amenity Culture
To reduce single-use consumption, AROMATICA has introduced large-size bulk products and implemented amenity refill systems in about 100 hotels, resorts, and stays. Since launching bulk products for zero-waste shops in Korea in 2020, we have expanded supply to a variety of accommodations from 2021 onward, bringing the refill culture into everyday life.
Through this effort, we replace small disposable amenities, fundamentally reduce unnecessary plastic use, and lead the way in realizing sustainable value.
Refill Packs for Everyday Reuse
Since 2016, AROMATICA has been expanding its refill product line, offering 27 refill packs as of 2025 and leading the cosmetics refill culture. Refill packs use about 70% less plastic compared to regular containers and provide an easy way for consumers to practice container reuse at home.
Through this effort, we help consumers make cosmetic refills a daily habit and build a more sustainable lifestyle.
‘Refill Day’ to Expand the Culture of Reuse
For years, AROMATICA has worked to build a culture of container reuse. Yet refills were slow to spread, often seen as inconvenient.
Believing that “one experience can change everything,” we launched Refill Day in 2025, held on the 21st of every month.
On Refill Day, anyone can bring their empty containers to refill for free. This simple gesture encouraged consumers to experience refilling firsthand, and it quickly grew into a local event with more than 500 participants each month. By September 2025, about 3,500 people had refilled a total of 1,750 liters into their own containers.
Altogether, these ongoing efforts to promote refill culture have saved 57 tons of plastic so far—equivalent to about 1.14 million 500ml plastic bottles (2018–Sep 2025).

‘Resource Circulation Campaign’ to Improve Recycling Systems
In Korea, even when consumers separate clear PET bottles for recycling, they often fail to be properly recycled.
During collection, bottles are mixed with other plastics, and at sorting facilities they are spilled onto the ground
and contaminated, ultimately being treated as general waste. Because clean materials could not be secured,
many companies were forced to import recycled PET flakes from Japan. Ironically, while clear PET is one of the most widely discarded plastics and an ideal material to be turned back into cosmetic containers, it was not being circulated within Korea’s recycling system.
To address this structural problem, AROMATICA took action directly.
We launched a resource circulation campaign to collect used clear PET bottles, deliver them straight to recyclers,
and turn them back into cosmetic containers. By bypassing inefficiencies in sorting facilities, this model began in zero-waste shops
in the Seoul metropolitan area and expanded to local governments, schools, and corporations. As of September 2025,
we have directly collected a total of 20 tons of clear PET bottles — equivalent to 1 million 500ml water bottles.
This campaign exposes the structural flaws of Korea’s recycling system while proving that clean resource circulation is possible. Ultimately, it highlights the responsibility of governments and municipalities to address these challenges through policy and budgetary support.

At AROMATICA, we are committed to sourcing ingredients grown, produced, and traded in sustainable ways.
Our essential oils come from a trusted partner with 125 years of expertise, supplying food-, pharmaceutical-,
and therapy-grade oils produced through responsible and sustainable practices.
Welcoming an Artist with Developmental Disabilities
In pursuit of a society where we work and live together, AROMATICA welcomed artist Kim Do-young, who has developmental disabilities, as a full-time colleague. His language is art. For his parents, who had long faced anxiety and uncertainty about the future of a child with autism, one business card bearing his name became a miraculous invitation to hope.
To be recognized as a member of society — for some, that is the greatest source of hope. This journey goes beyond employment; it is our answer to how we can truly live together. Kim Do-young’s pure perspective and vibrant colors bring greater depth to AROMATICA’s values of sustainability and authenticity.
Aromatherapy Care for Vulnerable Communities
“Mam Pyeonhan Therapy” (Comforting Therapy for Moms) is an emotional care project we have carried out with our employees since 2023. Through aromatherapy education and massage volunteering, we support single mothers, single-parent families, and care workers by helping to relieve pain and promote emotional recovery.
Combining professional expertise in aromatherapy — recognized for its effectiveness in psychological therapy — with the voluntary participation of our employees, this initiative represents AROMATICA’s unique model of social contribution, realizing the value of sustainable emotional care.
Giving with Heart
Each time AROMATICA products reach those who truly need them, we are reminded of our purpose as a sustainable brand. Every year, we add warmth to people’s lives, learning that giving is not just about passing something on, but about sharing sincerity.
We have delivered AROMATICA products to neighbors in need, and we will continue with heartfelt commitment to extend this positive impact to even more people.
