Surfactants can be categorized into several types:

• Emulsifiers – help mix water and oil
• Solubilizers – dissolve small amounts of oil in water
• Cleansers – remove impurities from the skin
• Dispersing agents – evenly distribute solid particles in water

When people talk about surfactants being harmful, they are usually referring to:1. Synthetic surfactants2. Sulfate-based surfactantsThese types can:• Strip away too much of the skin’s natural protective oils• Cause irritation, sensitivity, or even contribute to hair lossAt AROMATICA, we do not use these harsh synthetic surfactants. Instead, we use plant-derived surfactants that are gentle on the skin, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly.

For over 20 years, AROMATICA has specialized in safe and effective formulations, backed by certifications such as EWG VERIFIED™, VEGAN, and COSMOS as well as extensive experience in the strict U.S. and European markets.

Based on this expertise, we created our own Clean & Sustainable Beauty Standard™, from which we developed and continuously update The Watch List® — a guideline of ingredients we never use.

AROMATICA ensures safety by:

In 2012, the U.S. nonprofit organization EWG (Environmental Working Group) released a report called “The Hidden Hazards of Fragrance.” The report highlighted that many fragrance formulations may contain:

Undisclosed chemicals that have not undergone full safety testing. Phthalates, a group of chemicals sometimes used to make scents last longer, which may act as potential hormone disruptors.
One example is diethyl phthalate (DEP), which has been shown to affect hormone balance. Prolonged exposure during pregnancy has been linked in some studies to risks for male infants, and in adults it may affect sperm count or hormonal health.

Regulators, such as the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, restrict the use of certain high-risk phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP) to extremely low levels (under 0.01%). While these limits are intended to protect consumers, there is still ongoing debate and uncertainty due to limited human studies.

How to protect yourself as a consumer:
Check labels carefully and choose products marked “phthalate-free” or “non-toxic.
”At AROMATICA, we do not use synthetic fragrances. Instead, we use plant derived essential oils to create safe aromas.

Phenethyl Alcohol is a naturally occurring substance found in flowers such as rose, neroli, hyacinth, and lily.

• It is known to have broad-spectrum preservative properties against bacteria and fungi.
• It works by penetrating microorganisms and disrupting their cell membranes, which helps prevent contamination.
Some AROMATICA products contain Phenethyl Alcohol to enhance preservative effectiveness.

*According to the EWG Skin Deep database, Phenethyl Alcohol has a safety rating of “1”, the safest level. You can use our products with confidence.

All AROMATICA products have a fully reliable shelf life.

After more than five years of R&D, we developed our own plant-derived preservative system, proven to provide broad-spectrum protection against bacteria and fungi. Its effectiveness has already been validated through production and global distribution.

AROMATICA products contain only natural plant oils and essential oils, with no synthetic fragrances. As a result, you may notice variations in scent depending on the raw material extraction period and production time.

The fragrance may be stronger, lighter, or earthy, but this is a natural characteristic, not a defect.If the scent feels too strong, simply leave the cap open for a short time to let it dissipate.

Product & Ingredients

*Aloe Vera Gel Pump GuideIf the nozzle of the Aloe Vera Gel pump looks darkened, this occurs when the gel comes into contact with dust or other particles, causing discoloration.

When the product remains at the nozzle without use for a long time, or when it is exposed to air, it may harden. Residue at the nozzle can combine with dust in the air and change color. This does not affect the product’s quality. Simply wipe the nozzle clean before use, and it is completely safe to continue using.

It is possible to experience temporary stinging or tingling when using AROMATICA products for the first time. This is usually part of the skin’s adjustment process and often subsides after a short period of time.

However, if the discomfort does not calm down or if you experience any of the following symptoms, please stop using the product immediately.
• Persistent stinging that does not subside
• Redness of the skin
• Breakouts or irritation
• Itching

If none of these symptoms occur and the stinging sensation disappears quickly, you may continue using the product with confidence.

There are three main reasons why you may experience itching after shampooing:
1. Dry scalp
2. Insufficient cleansing
3. Individual sensitivity or reaction to certain ingredients

Why AROMATICA shampoos are different?
Unlike many shampoos on the market, AROMATICA does not use strong synthetic surfactants with high cleansing power, which can irritate the scalp and trigger sensitivity.
Instead, we use plant-derived, gentle surfactants. They are milder on the scalp but may have a lighter cleansing strength, which means shampooing technique is important.

Recommended 2-step shampoo method
• First wash: Cleanse thoroughly using your fingertips (not nails) to gently massage and remove buildup, then rinse.
• Second wash: Repeat the same method. This ensures that excess oil and impurities are fully removed.

If itching persists even after using the recommended method, it may be due to scalp dryness or individual sensitivity.
In that case, please consider adjusting your hair care routine or consulting with our customer service team for further guidance.

This may happen when plant-derived extract ingredients freeze due to temperature changes during shipping.
Simply keep the product at room temperature, and it will return to its normal texture. The formula is not affected, so it is completely safe to use.

In particular, Facial Oil, Body Oil, and Hair Oil contain a high percentage of organic butters. Because of this unique formulation, the texture may solidify like wax when stored below 15°C.

The rich organic butter content forms a protective moisturizing barrier on the skin, helping to prevent external irritation and moisture loss a distinctive feature of AROMATICA's formula.

During colder seasons, the texture may harden during delivery due to low temperatures. Simply store the product in a warm indoor environment or warm it with your hands before use, and it will quickly return to its original oil form. Rest assured, it is perfectly safe to use.

In shampoos or body washes, you may notice cloudiness, white clusters, or particles.
This occurs because AROMATICA does not use synthetic solubilizers or emulsifiers.
Instead, we use plant-derived surfactants like Lauryl Glucoside. Over time, coconut-derived cleansing ingredients may naturally aggregate into clusters.

This is:
• A safe, natural phenomenon (not spoilage)
• Proof that the product contains plant-based oils and surfactants
• Common in natural formulas due to excellent cleansing power, mildness, and biodegradability

You can continue to use the product with confidence its quality and effectiveness remain unchanged.

We recommend applying products in the following order:
Cleanser → Toner → Serum → Lotion → Cream
Apply from lighter textures to heavier textures.
